4 Tips On Giving Speeches

Sup guys, today I gave my speech for school captain. I was so nervous and I'm sure I'm not going to get it, but it's always fun to have a try. I'm no speech guru, but I'm in debating, I like to perform, and have given some speeches. Well, let's get started!

1. Practice
I know this is a cliché, but practice really is important. Practice as much as you can, in the car, at home, at school, anywhere! Practice helps you memorise the speech, feel more confident and you'll be ready.

2. Make sure your speech is right
This is vital. You have to make sure it has all the content you want to put in, DO NOT do what I did and fix it 2 days before, then when you are on stage quickly add something in. If you do forget something, just add it in.

3. Confidence!!!!!!
This is very important. When you get on stage, pretend everyone is either something that makes you calm or just look at the back wall.

4. Be Relatable
Being relatable means that other people can relate to what your saying. Being relatable also, well I think, also means being funny. Make jokes, make yourself relatable the key word.

Well, I hope these tips helped you and you can go kill that speech. I hope if you ever get a chance to go for school captain, give it a try, it's a fantastic experience. Fingers crossed I get a leadership position!

Caro Was Here- Book Review

Sup guys, today I'm going to be doing a review on Caro Was Here. Well, let's get started.

Author: Elizabeth Farrelly

Cover:
Well, personally, I think the cover is awesome. There's on hand pointing at the flame on a match. I like the slogan or what, punchline? I don't know what it is anyway, Whose idea of adventure was this? I think it was the American girl, Ellen who would say this. By the way, this story is based mainly on an island in Sydney Harbour.

Blurb:
Skipping school to lead a group of friends- and enemies- on an adult-free excursion to an island in Sydney Harbour is Caro's idea of a twelfth birthday outing.
Marooned overnight? She can handle that too. But the challenges multiply. They're not alone on the island, and Caro must save her friends from life-threatening danger...

This certainly sounded like an interesting book, and it was. I didn't really realise what the danger was until about halfway. I think that this blurb really summed up the book.

Favourite Character:
Nigel. He was bullied in the beginning of the book, with everyone calling him Nigel Numbnuts. He was never meant to come with them, but they found him and had to take Nigel with them. In the end, they realise he is funny, nice and smart. But, I do have another favourite character, Jamie Savage. He is an escaped prisoner who had a stutter, and the only reason he went to jail was because his brother (who was 15) was a psychopath. He was very kind.

Least Favourite Character:
I didn't have one. Ellen was quite annoying, but she got better.

Overall Summary Of The Book:
I'd give it 4/5, because it didn't have a very full ending well, that's all, I hope you enjoyed the review.

The Infernal Devices Book 1: Clockwork Angel Review

Sup guys, today I'm going to be doing a review of Clockwork Angel, which is book 1 in the Infernal Devices series.

Author: Cassandra Clare

Cover:
When I first look at the cover all I can see is this guy, tipping his hat. Then I see scenes of London behind him, which intrigues me. Also, when I first saw the series name, I thought it said the Internal Devices, which creeped me out. *clears throat*Anyway, moving on.

Blurb:
When sixteen year old Tessa Gray arrives in England during the reign of Queen Victoria, something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Friendless and hunted, Tessa seeks refuge with the Shadowhunters, a band of warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons. Drawn even deeper into their world, she finds herself fascinated by - and torn between - two best friends and quickly realises that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Immediately I have questions about the book, like is it time travel, who are the Shadowhunters? I did think it may have been time travel, but then I see otherwise. Also, Tessa really wasn't torn between two best friends, really. movgive ing on...

Favourite Character:
Probably Jem. He is a Shadowhunter, but he has a secret. He is an orphan, who has moved to England after his parents where killed by a demon in Shanghai, where he is from. Jem is very kind and caring, and completely different from Will, who is his best friend.

Least Favourite Character:
This is a tough one, but probably Nate/Nathaniel. Nate is Tessa's brother, who sent her tickets to come to London. In the end there was a big twist with him, plus he is a weirdo.

Overall Summary Of The Book:
I would give this book a 5/5 stars. There was a killer twist in the end, so if you get to read it, watch out!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this review. Byyyyyyyyye

A Weaponless World

Weapons. Why does our world have them? For food, I understand, but for war and killing, I don't.  So many people can be killed with these weapons. Innocent people. People who have done nothing, unarmed. And for what? Why? None of these people have done anything to you. You know the saying 'make sure it doesn't land in the wrong hands.' Every hand is the wrong hand. Everyone is capable of inflicting pain. Verbally, physically. So even if the weapon is just a spiteful thought or a sharp tongue, please don't use it. Even if you don't think you're inflicting pain, it doesn't mean you aren't; even passing on a rumour can inflict pain onto a person. So please, if someone didn't ask you to tell anyone, if you don't know if something's true, and if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all!

Well guys, I hope you enjoyed my post. Weapons are horrible things. Some of you may have realised that this was a bit about the recent Paris attacks. But it's also about a rumour that was going around my school today. So, please don't start rumours about people because if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it all!

P.S Rukiya from Shine 'N' Elevate is holding this trivia game thing I'm entering and I've only got one teammate s if you want to join just click the link and comment!

DIY Paper Lanterns and Paper Chains

Sup guys, today I'm going to be doing a DIY of paper lanterns and chains. Well, let's get started!

Paper Lanterns
What you'll need:
Stapler
1 Piece of coloured or blank paper
Scissors
Drawing Materials, e.g textas, coloured pencils

Step 1:
Get your paper and cut out a strip from the side, which will become your lantern's handle:
Step 2:
Draw a design on the piece of paper and the handle (draw it in landscape orientation):

Step 3:
Fold the paper horizontally so the open part is at the top.
Step 4:
Get your scissors and cut strips three quarters of the way up (be careful not to cut to the end of the paper) continue making cuts until you reach the end of the paper.
Step 5:
Unfold the paper and make cylinder so the design is landscape again.
Step 6:
Get your stapler and staple the top of the lantern together.
Step 7:
Now staple the bottom of your lantern.
Step 8:
Now all you have to do is staple the handle to the top of the lantern.
Voila! And there you have it!

Paper Chains
What you'll need:
As many pieces of paper as you want
Glue Stick
Scissors

Step 1:
Get your scissors and pile your paper up and cut strips out of the paper until you reach the end.
Step 2:
Get a strip of paper and glue one end to the other, so it forms a circle.

Step 3:
Now loop another strip through your circle, glue it, so it forms a circle too.

Step 4:
Repeat until the chain is as long as you want it to be, and there, you're done!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my DIY! Comment if you have any other DIY ideas and if you enjoyed! Byyyyyye

P.S Please hope for the Paris victims. A lot of people were killed or severely injured.

500 Blog Views!

Well, it's Looking A Bit Mitty just reached 500 blog views! I think some/most of them are mine, because it counts me viewing it, but still! Well, that was all, and I'm sorry I keep on changing my profile name, but I just can't decide. Well, that's all folks and I'll leave you with this:

P.S what do you think of my drawing? I did it on Sketchbook (which is a drawing app) so the writing's a bit messy.

When You Don't Know What To Write About

I don't know what to write about
My mind is blank from ideas
When the notebook is blank
And the page is wet with tears

I wish the words would flow from my pen
Just like they come from a fountain
But if there was a fountain in my den
The writing would be able to maintain

Story after story would appear
And I would be a scholar
But no words ring in my ear
And it feels like I'm wearing a collar

A collar of no words
A collar of no letters
Then finally the story was heard
The collar is released
And nothing else matters

......

Well, I hope you enjoyed my poem. I didn't know what to write for my blog post so I started writing a post about it and then realised it sounded a bit like a poem. I'm pretty bad at writing poems, but it was fun. Well, that's all and I hope you enjoyed :3

Girl Online Book Review

Sup. Today I'm going to be reviewing the book Girl Online. Right, let's get started. THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!!!! So if you want to read the book but haven't, don't read the review!

Book: Girl Online

Author: Zoe Sugg

Summary: Penny has a secret.

Under the alias GirlOnline, she blogs about school dramas, boys, her mad, whirlwind family - and the panic attacks she's suffered from lately. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets the gorgeous, guitar-strumming Noah. Suddenly Penny is falling in love - and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret too. One that threatens to ruin Penny's cover - and her closest friendship - forever.

How much I Liked It: I liked Girl Online so much. I'd give it 5/5 stars. I really liked the blog post parts and the story.

Favourite Character:
Definitely Elliot. As much as I liked Penny, Elliot was such a good character. He is funny, quirky and cool.

Least Favourite Character:
Megan. She was so arrogant and rude and full of herself. She posted the video of Penny when her skirt flipped up on Facebook, and although she took it down, why did she do it in the first place?!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this review,
Byyyyyyyyyye!

Stereotypes In Kids Toys

Sup, this post is going to get a little bit intense. Today I'm going to be talking about the stereotyping in kid's toys. Practically every Target, Big W or Kmart (which are big department stores in Australia) or any department store for that matter, I see two aisles: Girl's Toys and Boy's Toys. Though they may not say Girl's Toys it's pretty clear it is. Filled with Monster high dolls and Barbies. And then the aisle next to it: Boy's Toys. Yet again filled with Transformers and Super heroes. Then, they put the things that they think are for boys, like Minecraft in that aisle. So many girls play Minecraft and play with these toys that there shouldn't even be a Girls and a Boys aisle. Then, there's that thing with LEGO, I mean do we really need LEGO Friends. It's just gender-stereotyping LEGO. It's not like the figures are Elizabeth Pankhurst or Marie Curie. They're just skipping around town feeding their cats and painting their nails. When I was in Big W the other day, I swapped the Frozen LEGO with the Chima LEGO. There should be NO gender stereotyping at all.

Ok, well that's all folks I'll leave you with this:

Well, that's all folks and I'll leave you with this:
